How Eternal handles personal data

Eternal is an educational simulation product for private-equity training. This notice explains what we collect, how we use it, when cookies are optional, and the rights available to users in the UK, EEA, United States, and other regions.

1. Who this notice applies to

This notice applies to visitors, registered users, beta testers, paying members, recruiters, and other people who interact with Eternal through the website, product, emails, and related services.

2. What Eternal is

Eternal is an educational application. It is designed to help users practise private equity decision-making, modelling, diligence, and interview reasoning through simulated cases, quizzes, leaderboards, and related training tools.

Eternal is not a broker, investment adviser, law firm, tax adviser, recruiter of record, or consumer credit provider. Content on the platform is for education and skill development, not professional advice.

3. Data we collect

Depending on how you use the service, we may collect:

  • Account and profile data such as your name, email address, login details, plan tier, preferences, quiz results, and educational profile.
  • Product activity such as simulations started, challenge answers, XP, skill unlocks, talent-card data, leaderboard progress, mentor interactions, and support requests.
  • Transaction data such as subscription status, billing references, and payment metadata returned by our payment providers. We do not store full payment card numbers.
  • Device and usage data such as browser type, approximate region, pages viewed, performance diagnostics, and referral parameters when you permit analytics cookies.
  • Communication data when you email us, respond to a campaign, or use a contact or recruiting flow.

4. How we use personal data

  • To create and secure accounts, authenticate users, and prevent abuse or fraud.
  • To deliver the educational product, including simulations, progression, mentor features, leaderboards, recruiting flows, and customer support.
  • To operate subscriptions, send service emails, administer beta access, and manage customer relationships.
  • To understand product performance and improve the service when optional analytics cookies are enabled.
  • To comply with law, enforce our terms, investigate misuse, or protect the rights and safety of Eternal, users, and third parties.

5. Educational content, public-company data, and deal references

Eternal may reference real industries, real market events, real public companies, real fund structures, and real deal archetypes. Where Eternal refers to real companies or transactions, the source material is intended to come from public information, public filings, market commentary, earnings materials, news reporting, and educational synthesis.

Eternal is not intended to publish confidential information, inside information, material non-public information, or proprietary client data. Some cases are fictional, anonymised, or composite scenarios built for training. Any resemblance to specific live mandates should be understood in that context.

6. Cookies and similar technologies

Eternal uses a small number of first-party cookies and browser storage items. Essential cookies are used for account login, session security, load balancing, and remembering your cookie preference.

Optional analytics and attribution tools are only enabled if you choose Accept analytics. Those tools may include PostHog, Vercel Analytics, Vercel Speed Insights, referral attribution storage, and remembering your intro-case variant across visits.

7. Legal bases for UK and EEA users

Where UK GDPR or EU GDPR applies, we generally rely on one or more of these bases:

  • Contract, when we provide the service you ask us to provide.
  • Legitimate interests, for product security, support, internal administration, and responsible product improvement.
  • Consent, where we rely on optional analytics or similar tracking technologies.
  • Legal obligation, where we must keep records or respond to lawful requests.

8. Sharing data with service providers

We may share personal data with processors and service providers that help run Eternal, such as:

  • Supabase for authentication, database, and storage infrastructure.
  • Vercel for hosting, delivery, analytics, and performance monitoring.
  • PostHog for product analytics, when optional analytics are enabled.
  • Stripe or comparable providers for billing and subscription administration.
  • Resend or comparable providers for transactional emails.

We may also disclose data where required by law, to enforce our agreements, or as part of a merger, financing, or asset transfer.

9. International transfers

Eternal and its service providers may process personal data in countries other than your own. Where required, we aim to use appropriate safeguards for cross-border transfers, such as contractual protections or provider transfer mechanisms.

10. Retention

We keep personal data for as long as reasonably necessary to provide the service, maintain educational records, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce agreements. Retention periods vary depending on the type of data and the reason it was collected.

11. Your rights

Depending on your location, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict, object to, or port certain personal data, and to withdraw consent where consent is the basis we rely on.

Users in the UK and EEA may also have the right to complain to a supervisory authority. Users in California and other applicable US states may have rights relating to access, deletion, correction, and certain sharing or targeted-advertising restrictions.

12. Children

Eternal is not directed to children. Do not use the service if you are below the age at which you can lawfully consent to data processing or enter into these terms in your jurisdiction without parental or guardian involvement.

13. Changes to this notice

We may update this notice as the product evolves, the law changes, or our processing changes. When we make material updates, we will revise the date at the top of this page and may provide an in-product notice where appropriate.
